STRATEGIC EDITING
Strategic editing demand grows rapidly as the online discourse world expands. Ever figured out what pro editors use to possess the power of strategic editing leading to search-dominating videos?
Well, then you are in the right place. The purpose of this blog is to enhance your edited video. I will simply list the tricks that pro editors use.
use to make their videos so engaging and look amazing.
There are five things we should look for-
- Perspective
- Visualization
- The end result
- Understanding the basics
- Quality
Let me explain:
Perspective
Perspective refers to viewing something from your own unique point of view. Assume you and your
friend are both drawing the same tree.
Even if you draw differently because you are in different locations, you are both correct! This is
perspective – seeing things from your vantage point.
So, where can we apply that point of view in editing?
It is not complicated; all you have to do is think like a viewer. For example, imagine you are a viewer
watching a newbie edited video; what would you think?
You’ll most likely slide the video, but I bet you didn’t slide a newbie edited video with values in it. For
example, take famous people, they share their journey but don’t put extra effort in editing, the video is not
edited in an extraordinary way,
but we still watch it.
So subconsciously think about it from the viewer’s perspective, and if you do it right, you’ll soon see
significant improvements, guaranteed. Currently, I am doing the same, but there are some questions
that might help identify it
- If I were my viewer, then what criticism would I make?
- How can I provide the value that I do, in the most efficient way possible?
If you find the answers and use them wisely, then the game is in your hands, Good luck.
Visualization
Take it or not, it’s important because you cannot see anything without light, and vision in editing is
light itself.
If you want to make videos like Pro, I believe you should spend the first few moments thinking about
how you are editing your motives and intentions.
There is a simple solution.
SCRIPTING IN STRATEGIC EDITING
It’s basically writing what you want to show in video and saying no useless things you can say
beforehand. It improves the quality and engagement of a video edit, believe it or not.
Actually, there is a trick to this: first, write down all of your thoughts about this edit, then rearrange
it.
The end result
It’s similar to visualization: when you sit down to edit a video, imagine what the end result should
look like in strategic editing?
You’ll notice that you’re more likely to end up the same or better, and in some cases, it’s not quite
applicable for new editors.
If you’re new, here are some pointers to get you started:
- Better understanding in basics
- Observing and consuming edits
- getting comfortable with rough edits
I believe that if you have a basic understanding of it, it will be reliable for you to edit good video in
no time. Allow me to explain how
Better understanding in basics
The basic principles are easy to understand. All you need to do is experiment, as a self-learner,
I did this and it’s quite helpful, and you can use YouTube or courses, in the learning process I do not
recommend mastering everything I mean,
it depends on the edit you want to make. That is why I recommend the second point “Observing and
consuming.”
Observing and consuming edits
I know that most of us like to scroll all day, but what if you could use it for good? Is it possible?
Yes, it is, and let me show you how.
If you want to edit well, you must first identify specific individuals who inspire you and whom you
want to emulate. I’m sure you have them;
try to find people who are similar to them and follow them in a short period of time. Instagram will
change for your page to that.
You’re probably wondering what the logic is in it- Instagram, Facebook, YouTube shorts. Whatever you’re
doing on social media,
it will recommend you the edits people uploads.
When it is always in front of you, you are conditioning your brain to analysis and think more
critically, and it will eventually become Your motivation, because our brains are like this.
All I can say is take advantage of it.
getting comfortable with rough edits
It is basic, you’ve to implicant the things you learned via course or YouTube even if it is small make it
a habit, and get comfortable with it. It will gradually improve your edit.
To become a king you have to be first a pawn, so what’s stopping you? Start!
Quality
- “Quality in editing” means improving something by correcting errors, improving the writing, and
ensuring that it works properly.
It is about checking for errors in grammar, spelling, and organization to ensure that everything is
clear and accurate. - Video quality is similar to the sharpness and clarity you see on television or any other screen. It is
all about how clear the images are, how vibrant the colors appear, and how fluid the motion
appears.
High video quality results in sharp, detailed images with vibrant colors, whereas low video quality
may result in blurry or pixelated visuals with less vibrant colors.
Both have differences, but they are equally important for an editor, so pay attention to them the next
time you edit, and you will see that they are paying you.
Conclusion
This blog emphasizes the importance of viewing from the perspective of the viewer, planning
through scripting, visualizing the end product, mastering editing basics,
consistent practice, and focusing on both editing and video quality.
These elements work together to create engaging and visually appealing videos.
Mastering these aspects can greatly improve one’s video editing skills, making the editing process
more efficient and the final product more engaging.
